Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 July 2026
Introduction
Personica ("we", "us", "our") operates the website personica.net. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data. We designed Personica with privacy as a structural principle — your personality test answers never leave your device, and we do not maintain a database of user results.
By using personica.net, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, you may still use the site but should adjust your cookie preferences via the consent banner or avoid using features that rely on local storage.
Information we collect
No account required
Personica does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personally identifiable information to take the personality test or view your results. There is no user registration system, no login, and no user database.
Test answers and results
When you take a personality test on Personica, your answers are processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your responses are never transmitted to our servers or any third-party service. The scoring pipeline — from raw answer collection through trait normalisation, archetype classification, RIASEC career derivation, and Personality Fingerprint generation — runs locally on your device.
Your results are encoded into a URL-safe token stored in the URL fragment (the portion after the # symbol). By design, URL fragments are not sent to web servers by browsers. If you share your result link with someone, the encoded data travels within the URL itself — it is not retrieved from our server.
Browser local storage
Personica uses your browser's localStorage for three purposes: saving your cookie consent preference, storing your theme preference (light, dark, or system), and auto-saving test progress during the standard (50-item) test. Auto-saved test progress expires automatically after 24 hours. No personally identifiable information is stored in localStorage. You can clear this data at any time through your browser's settings.
Automatically collected information
When you visit personica.net, our hosting provider (Netlify) and analytics service (Google Analytics) may automatically collect standard web traffic data including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and improve the site. It is not linked to your test results or used to identify you personally.
Google Analytics data collection is governed by your consent choice (see "Cookies and consent" below). If you decline analytics cookies, no Google Analytics data is collected from your session.
Cookies and consent
Google Consent Mode v2
Personica implements Google Consent Mode v2 to manage cookie consent for both advertising and analytics. When you first visit the site, all cookie categories are denied by default — no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no ad personalisation cookies are set until you make a choice.
The consent banner offers two options: "Accept all" grants consent for advertising cookies, analytics cookies, ad user data, and ad personalisation. "Essential only" keeps all categories denied and instructs Google AdSense to serve non-personalised advertisements only.
Your consent choice is stored in your browser's localStorage (not in a cookie) and persists across sessions. You can reset your preference at any time by clearing your browser data for personica.net or by using the browser console command PersonicaConsent.reset().
Types of cookies used
Essential cookies: Personica does not set any first-party cookies. The localStorage entries described above (consent preference, theme preference, test auto-save) are not cookies and are not transmitted to any server.
Analytics cookies (optional): If you accept cookies, Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID G-J6MNGWFEY4) sets cookies to measure site traffic and user engagement. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Advertising cookies (optional): If you accept cookies, Google AdSense may set cookies to serve personalised advertisements based on your browsing history across the web. If you decline, AdSense operates in non-personalised mode, serving contextual ads based on page content rather than your browsing profile. Advertising cookies are governed by Google's Advertising Policies.
Advertising
Personica is a free, ad-supported website. Advertisements are served through Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-2335913078491957). Ad revenue is the sole source of funding for the platform and is what allows us to keep the personality test, archetype profiles, career intelligence tools, and all other features available at no charge.
We do not sell your data to advertisers. We do not share your test results with any third party. The only data Google receives from your visit is standard web analytics and advertising signals, and only if you have consented to those categories via the cookie banner.
Third-party services
Personica uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:
Netlify — web hosting and content delivery. Netlify processes server access logs including IP addresses. Netlify Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics (GA4) — aggregate traffic analytics. Only active when you consent to analytics cookies. Google Privacy Policy.
Google AdSense — display advertising. Serves personalised or non-personalised ads depending on your consent choice. Google Advertising Policies.
Google Fonts — typeface delivery. Google Fonts may log IP addresses when fonts are downloaded. Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.
O*NET OnLine — occupational career data used in career intelligence features, sourced under CC BY 4.0 licence. No user data is shared with O*NET.
Children's privacy
Personica is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Your rights
For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act, you have the following rights regarding your personal data: the right to access any personal data we hold about you, the right to rectification of inaccurate data, the right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing.
In practice, because Personica does not maintain a user database or store test results server-side, there is very little personal data for us to provide, rectify, or erase. The primary personal data that may exist is any data collected by Google Analytics or Google AdSense during your visit, which is governed by Google's data retention policies and your consent choices.
If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@personica.net. We will respond within 30 days.
For users in California
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Personica does not sell personal information. If you have questions about your rights under the CCPA, contact us at hello@personica.net.
Data retention
Personica does not retain test answers or results on any server. Browser localStorage data (consent preference, theme preference, auto-save progress) persists until you clear your browser data or until auto-save entries expire after 24 hours. Google Analytics and Google AdSense retain data according to their own retention policies, which you can review via the links in the Third-party services section above.
Security
Personica is served exclusively over HTTPS. All connections between your browser and our hosting provider are encrypted using TLS. Because test answers and results are processed entirely client-side and never transmitted to our servers, there is no server-side data store to breach. The primary security consideration for users is the confidentiality of shared result URLs, which contain your encoded test data — treat them with the same care you would give any personal information you choose to share.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. The current version is always available at personica.net/privacy/. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision was made. If we make material changes, we will update the consent banner version number, which will prompt you to review and re-confirm your cookie preferences.
Contact
